So I am going to take another detour today and try something different than I had originally planned with this blog. Last week I had posted a story that was written by my wife and myself early on in our relationship. I had some feedback that was positive, but I also noticed cases where people were liking the post, but no one had clicked on it to read it. Now either this mean that there is a problem with WordPress’ software or people are liking post with out actually reading them. I wasn’t sure what to do about that, then later in the week I came across a post in regards to people liking blogs just so that the writer of the blog will feel the obligation to like their posts back. In essence a giant echo chamber where people are liking each other out of obligation and not due to the quality of the work.
So what does this mean in regards to what I want to do different with my blog this week. I am going to turn it over to the people reading. In the comments section below please feel free to ask any questions, about me, my work, any of my previous blogs. If you have something that you would like for me to discuss in a future blog please let me know. I know that odds are I will got few if any responces, but I need to feel like I am connecting with even one or two real people.

wow, you are so right. What’s the point of having a blog if it’s only about the likes? I’m wondering why people want so many likes anyway. This is one of the reasons why I got tired of Facebook, people were almost desperate for “likes”, if no one liked their post, they felt like an outcast. But I guess it’s different over here? Is it for fame? Or to be heard?
It is like the people who seem to have the neurotic need to be the first to comment on a post, but they do not say anything other than they were the first.

I am curious as to how you came up with that story?
Plus I was wondering how you got into writing? Most people say “since they were a kid”, but I’m curious as to what inspired you.
The earliest influence that I had to want to write came from Star Wars. I saw the first movie when I was in first grade when it came out. I’m not sure if anyone younger can understand. At a time that Hollywood was focused on making movies about people, cramer v cramer, tootsie. In the middle of all this was a Epic space opera that was well done and captured the imagination of an entire generation. That is what made me want to tell stories, it wasn’t until after college that I decided I wanted to be a writer. That is where my blog begins. As for the inspiration for the story itself. I have two different post talking about the history of the story. the are ‘What a long strange trip it’s been’ parts 5 & 8
My best advice would be to ignore these people. I know my readers and I know where a “true” like is. Those people who like posts without even clicking them do so in the Reader section of your dashboard. Since the “Like” button is right there, they can just scroll down the list of posts and click the button without even bothering to read the title. =/ I don’t want to name anyone, but I know of at least five people who do that.
I was wondering about the name of your blog. I saw from your About page that it’s your own publishing enterprise, but why “Monolith”?
Short version of the story, the logo is based on some set design work I did in college, and once I had the logo the name jumped out at me.
